5 reasons why the Suzuki Swift is a top seller in New Zealand
The Suzuki Swift is one of New Zealand's top-selling cars and it has earned that reputation for many reasons, most of which are unique to owners, but there are some common ones that most owners can agree on, and I've provided a quick list of the 'BIG Five'.

1. Attractive (with a pinch of attitude)
The moment you set eyes on the Suzuki Swift the first thought is all physical. It's a great-looking vehicle. It's sleek, stylish and it's not until you get in and take it for a drive that you notice it packs a bit of attitude too. The other great thing is that it comes lots of different colours so you can have it match your style, which is a big hit with owners! You can also personalise it with a lot of different accessories.

2. Incredibly easy to drive
One of the first things you realize when first driving around in the Swift is how incredibly light it feels under your control. Cornering is easy, parking too. Because of the smart shape of the car you can see exactly how far away you are from other cars.

The Swift responds amazingly well. It doesn't really even feel like you're driving a "grown up" vehicle, it feels more like one of those fun little go-karts you may have played around in as a kid. It's a fun drive.

As well as being great around town it is also more than comfortable on an out-of-town journey. Although light in steering it feels very solid on the road and still has enough pep to pull out and overtake if needed. It's a versatile car that can suit so many different lifestyles.

3. Super cheap on fuel
The Suzuki Swift has a small engine and is highly optimized for fuel economy. A full tank of gas will cost you under $100 and driving around Dunedin you won't need to refill it again for at least 500km, depending on how you drive!

The engine is chain-driven, which means that ongoing maintenance costs for the Swift are lower than some other cars, as it doesn't need a cambelt replaced at 100,000km.

4. BIG little car
The thing I love about the Swift is that when I get in it I don't feel as if I'm getting into a small car. The seating position is excellent and the car feels really solid. There is plenty of headroom and shoulder room beside your passenger. I always say it feels like you are getting into the Tardis, as it has so much more room than you would expect from the outside looking in.

5. It's the safest car to drive
The Suzuki Swift has a 5-star safety rating, the highest safety rating a vehicle can have. The thing I love about the Swift's safety features is that they are the same right across the range, with the base GL model having the same safety features as the top-of-the-range Swift Sport. Quite often manufacturers will cut costs by having fewer airbags in cheaper models.

The Swift also has an electronic stability program, which prevents the car from sliding if you start to lose traction, and a reinforced frame to give the Swift's passengers more protection should there be an accident.

I love the Swift. They represent excellent value for money, have a bit of attitude and spunk and are safe, reliable cars to own.

If you'd like to drop by and take one for a drive, then come down to Gilmour Motors and see either myself (Emma Gilmour) or Vince and we'll gladly throw you the keys so you see for yourself why the Swift is as popular as it is!

Hope to see you soon!
