After Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced yesterday all parts of New Zealand except Auckland would move down to Alert Level 1, party organisers were able to go ahead as planned.
Festival of the Plain chairman Ian Chalmers was ecstatic the party could go ahead.
He was hoping for sunny weather and lots of people at the Mosgiel Memorial Gardens.
"The party is all go."
This year’s party marked a return to the gardens, after it was moved to Peter Johnstone Park for two years.
Mr Chalmers was pleased it was back at its original home and had received similar feedback from the public.
"It’s a community event and this is a great community facility," Mr Chalmers said.
The free community party would include a range of stallholders, performances by local and non-local musicians and a range of activities.
The organising committee had been given permission from the Dunedin City Council to use the concrete skateboard area for stallholders, he said.
In other areas of the gardens, stalls and equipment had to be 2m away from the edge of the playground.
