Nikola Zigic scored with six minutes left to give Birmingham a 2-1 win over fierce local rival Aston Villa and a first League Cup semifinal for nine years.

Defending champion Manchester United advanced to the League Cup semifinals Tuesday by beating Tottenham 2-0, while Aston Villa won 4-2 over Portsmouth.
