Cruise ships

Four months of relative stability in the region's services sector was yesterday welcomed by Otago-Southland Employers Association chief executive John Scandrett.

Waitaki Mayor Alex Familton yesterday welcomed 460 cruise ship passengers from the Pacific Dawn, who arrived by train in Palmerston.

It's five times larger than the Titanic, has seven neighborhoods, an ice rink, a golf course and a 750-seat outdoor amphitheater. The world's largest cruise ship is finally finished and beginning to glide toward its home port in Florida.
