Ministry of Education principal consultant Dr Gabrielle Wall at D & G Consulting said 115 people attended three public meetings held last week to consult on the new school – two at Rolleston and one at West Melton.
Those attending had not been asked which of the two options for a new campus site they prefer. The options are a new campus for Rolleston College or a whole new school.
“There was a lot of questions and a lot of discussion, but people weren’t asked to express preferences,” Wall said.
For the option of a new school, people wanted to know where the new school would be located and what its enrolment zone would be.
The answer, which was at this stage only indicative, was in the current primary school zone areas for Lemonwood Grove School and the planned Te Rōhutu Whio school, to open next year.
For the option of a new Rolleston College campus, people wanted to know what teaching and learning would look like in a two-campus model. Rolleston College principal Rachel Skelton and senior students addressed the meetings.
Wall will be collating feedback from the meeting, as well as from an online survey, which is open until Friday.
She urged members of the public to fill out the survey, at www.dandgconsulting.co.nz/rolleston
