Work has been completed on one of the city's busiest bus stops.
The first passengers at the Health Precinct's new bus shelters on Tuam St arrived on Monday morning.
The section of road was widened by six metres to include three new bus bays on either side of the road.
This means buses can pull in instead of stopping in the bus lane as they used to.
The shelters also include raised kerbs plus a traffic island with a rain garden that has 2000 new plants and five new trees.
