Greene qualified during the Meridian regionals in Spain last month with a top-five placing to earn a spot in the 2017 Crossfit Games in Madison, Wisconsin.
It was a top effort in a competitive region which includes Europe.
The three-time African champion scored 512 points to claim fourth spot.
The 25-year-old former Otago gymnast and rugby player lives in Abu Dhabi these days but she took up the sport in Dunedin.
She works at Vogue Fitness on Yas Island and recently featured on the front cover of Women’s Health Magazine UAE.
Greene burst on to the crossfit scene last year when she won the 2016 Crossfit Games Open as a relative newcomer, taking three third-place finishes and never finishing outside the top 12.
She beat about 80,000 competitors around the world. The workouts were sent to each competitor and sent back for judging.
Despite her outstanding effort, she decided to enter the teams event at the 2016 Crossfit Games and helped her gym nab third place.
But this year Greene has elected to compete as an individual which has caused some excitement in the crossfit scene.
Greene is the first athlete from Africa to qualify since the super regional format was introduced in 2015.Greene’s mother, Anita Greene, reckons it all started because her daughter was so hard to buy for at Christmas.
"As a matter of fact I gave her a gift voucher for Christmas and it was for six months of crossfit and she ended up loving it," Anita said.
"We are extremely proud of Jamie ... she works pretty hard to get to this level.
"She has always been more interested in sport than anything else. And whenever she takes something on, she works hard at it. She did that when she represented Otago at gymnastics and played for Otago at rugby."
Asked how her daughter would go at the event, Anita said Jamie was targeting a top-10 finish.
The tournament begins early next month.
