Green Island was forced to pulled out of its Dunedin club twenty20 fixture against Albion on Friday and its declaration game against Carisbrook-Dunedin/Kaikorai on Saturday due to Covid-19.

"Unfortunately, ‘the bug’ has decimated our ranks and the prems won’t be fronting this weekend," the club said on its Facebook page.

North East Valley edged University-Grange in a declaration game and leads the standings, while Albion scuttled Taieri by six wickets.

In the T20 competition, North East Valley had a three-wicket win over Taieri and CDK beat University-Grange by 39 runs.

University-Grange 171 lost to North East Valley 172/9

North East Valley bowler Oliver White nabbed six for 48 from 18 overs to set up a tense win over University-Grange at Tonga Park on Saturday.

University-Grange was well-positioned at 123 for one. Sebastian Lauderdale-Smith top-scored with 67, but his departure ushered in a reasonably hasty demise.

Venkat Kotte made 30 and Zac Cumming added 21. But White ripped through the batting order and helped bundle out University-Grange for 171.

Valley slumped to 12 for three before Hunter Kindley (32) and Lachie Bradford (39) added some starch.

Sam Blakely (19) and Kaleb McKay (20) made valuable contributions down the order and No 10 Gus Holt made 22 not out from 44 balls to guide his side to one-wicket win.

Taieri 102 lost to Albion 105/4

Ricki Allan sliced through Taieri’s batting line-up to help set up a comfortable six-wicket win for Albion at Brooklands Park.

Allan, who plays rugby league for Otago, took five for nine from eight overs.

Adam Jones top-scored for Taieri with 24. Opener Cameron Jackson made 19 and Marno Potgieter was the only other play to reach double figures with 11 not out.

Taieri’s paltry total of 102 proved a minor hurdle for Albion’s batting line-up.

Taylor Cumberland top-scored with 30, Tim Ford made 23 and Max Griffith chipped in with 20 not out to secure an early finish.

Beckham Wheeler-Greenall took two for 17 and was the pick of the bowlers for Taieri.
