Twins Briar (left) and Rosie Stevenson, 6, feed their Peking ducklings, collectively known as The Pip-Squeaks, in Upper Charlton.

The ducks were hatched and raised by one of their chickens because the mother duck, Pip, was not interested in being a mother, so her eggs were put under a broody hen.

The sisters are among the first to enter the photo competition Rural Children and their Pets.

Entries close on Friday and the winner of a prize from PGG Wrightson Gore will be announced on Wednesday next week.

Email photo entries (of a file size of at least 500kb), with your name, age, location, pet name and a few lines about your pet to katherine.mclennan@theensign.co.nz.
