Society president Grant Hasse, of Rolleston, said the couple won by entering a 27.5kg head from the wapiti Nepia, which they bred on their Tikana Wapiti Stud in Browns.
"It’s the heaviest head grown and entered in a competition in New Zealand — it’s a beautiful head and hard to fault."
