New Year's Eve revellers made their way to the Wānaka's lakefront early on to enjoy the warm weather, a beautiful view and good music.
Most of Ardmore St was closed off about 7pm as people began to make their way down to the lake to see in the new year.
Police and security were on hand to ensure young people’s safety.

Many bars, restaurants and takeaway shops were open late and packed with families and groups of friends.
Two stages were set up across from Ardmore St. One had a band playing family friendly music and the other, on the opposite side of the lake, had two DJs scheduled to play throughout the night.
