Two new judges have been named for this year’s Hokonui Fashion Design Awards.
The awards will mark their 35th year in late July — a significant achievement as the longest-running fashion design awards of their type in New Zealand.
The event attracts interest from designers from throughout New Zealand.
In previous years the judging panel has included Karen Walker, Nic Blanchet, Francis Hooper, Trelise Cooper, Kate Sylvester, Liz Findlay, Doris Du Pont and Margi Robertson (of NOM*d), Juliette Hogan, Rachel Easting and Anjali Burnett (of Twenty Seven Names) and Kathryn Wilson.
This year two new judges have been introduced: Liam Bowden, the founder and creative director of Deadly Ponies, and Viki Taylor, the founder and designer of Taylor.
"We are incredibly lucky to have such a stellar line up of industry leaders sit on the judging panel this year, they will each bring with them a unique perspective, along with extensive industry knowledge. We continue to be proud of the awards long, rich history of supporting emerging designers," Hokonui Fashion Design Awards convener-chairwoman Jacqui McKinney said.
Entries are open until June 7 and tickets to the two evening shows will be available from July 5.
The school section winners will be announced at the Hokonui Strictly Design Evening on July 29 and the open section winners will be announced on July 28.
