Police are investigating an apparent hit and run which left a man with glass in his head and back injuries in Balclutha last night.
A police spokeswoman said they were advised by Dunedin Hospital about the hit and run, which occurred about 8pm last night.
The man could not remember much about the incident.
He was left with glass in the back of his head and injuries to his back.
Staff were not told about the incident at the time and only found out after the hospital contacted them at 12.30am after he arrived.
It was not known how the man got to Dunedin Hospital.
A St John spokesman said they had no record of transporting a patient from Balclutha around 8pm last night.
