Rower picks up

Hamish Ludbrook (25), of Wanaka, has now raised $1225 for prostate cancer charities and no longer looks as if he will be rowing every day for a year to reach his $10,000 target.

At the end of the first stint of two hours non-stop stationary rowing on Wednesday to support four Auckland friends competing in the Indian Ocean Rowing Race, his tally was just $28.

At that rate, he was facing 357 days on the slide.

If he continues to raise funds at his current rate, he could reach his goal by the end of next week.

The Auckland team (the only New Zealanders) in the Indian Ocean Rowing Race is Rowing for Prostate (www.rowingforprostate).
