The show must go on — but it will be one day late.

East Otago Musical Theatre will be presenting Woz, the Pantomime this week and it was all set to start last night.

But due to a mishap, the premiere of the show did not proceed last night at the East Otago Events Centre and will instead start tonight.

A Dunedin City Council spokesperson said last Thursday during set-up for the production, technicians were adjusting a lighting rig when the rig unexpectedly dropped about 3m to the ground.

No-one was injured, but more work was needed to get the lighting up and running again.

The council liaised with the event centre committee and East Otago Musical Theatre to fix the problem.

Theatre president Dave Keen said different lighting had to be rigged up and that had led to delays. In the end it was decided not to go ahead with the first show last night.

People who had tickets to last night’s show could be accommodated on the next three nights.

The show would be staged over the next three nights.

Mr Keen said the cast was looking forward to the first performance.

The pantomime is based on the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, with a New Zealand twist.
