Flame Fire Productions performer Ange Constable, of Arrowtown, caused a sensation as Neytiri, the blue-skinned Na'vi star of the blockbuster Avatar.
Wearing little apart from her knickers, Ms Constable said it took two assistants two and a-half hours to apply the detailed theatrical make-up to her body.
"I feel like I have clothes on, like I'm wearing a body suit. [The audience] are loving it."
Before the recorded Oscars night ceremony was projected on the screen, patrons watched "Dorothy Brown" herself apologise for not being in Arrowtown, as she was attending the Hollywood ceremony.
