Two Queenstown beauty businesses have joined forces to help the Breast Cancer Cure Research Trust this month, with a fundraiser which aims to collect at least $1000.

Heaven and Hush Spa, in the Mountaineer building, have so far raised more than $350 through the baking efforts of their beauticians and hairdressers.

Company director Jan Butson said it was the second time she had raised funds for the trust, with Hush Spa raising more than $800 in 2007 by donating a percentage of its services for a month.

"This year we wanted to be more involved so [we] decided to make 1000 cupcakes, with a goal of at least $1000, with the total proceeds going to the trust.

"All the staff are involved in the making, decorating and selling of the cupcakes and we are becoming very adept and creative, using sweets and icing to decorate each one individually."

A fresh batch of cupcakes was made every day with flavours including chocolate, banana, vanilla and carrot.

They are being sold for a gold-coin donation.

Everyone who bought a cupcake, or donated to the fundraiser, went into the draw to win a gift basket from Heaven and Hush Spa.
