Police have charged a 25-year-old Otahuhu man with the murder of a 55-year-old woman whose body was found in Murphy's Park, Otahuhu yesterday morning.
The unemployed man is to appear in the Manukau District Court today, police said.
It was hoped the name of the victim will be released today following a formal identification.
The woman's body was found behind a toilet block in Murphy's Park near a high school and kindergarten.
She had head injuries and her trousers had been removed. The body was found today at 6.50am by two members of the public and the park was immediately cordoned off.
