Two Mexican tourists will appear in the Queenstown District Court on Monday, both facing charges of assault and injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Detective Lisa Watt, of Queenstown, said the men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested yesterday in relation to a "serious assault" outside the ASB cash machine on Camp St, at 5am on January 31.
A 35-year-old man had been using the machine when he reported being attacked.
He sustained a suspected broken nose and lost two teeth.
A friend of the victim chased the men and reported also being assaulted in Cow Lane.
Three men running from the scene were captured on CCTV cameras and the images were released to the media.
Detective Sergeant Grahme Bartlett said both of the men arrested were kitchen hands and working at different businesses in Queenstown.
"The arrests were directly as a result of assistance from the media."
The men appeared in court yesterday and were remanded on bail to reappear in Queenstown on Monday.
Det Sgt Bartlett said police had also identified three men in relation to an earlier incident, when a 25-year-old was punched in Cow Lane at 4.30am on January 30.
His wallet was taken, cash removed and the wallet thrown back.
Det Sgt Bartlett said the identification of the three men was also as a result of assistance from the media.
"More details will be released when available," he said.
