Broker buys 946,000 shares

An unknown sharebroker appears to have unwittingly bought 946,000 Botry Zen shares which could now be worthless.

The Dunedin biotechnology company was yesterday placed in receivership, but the sharebroker appears to have failed to immediately cancel an automatic standing order for shares in the company, and during the day bought the shares at 1.2c before cancelling the order.

Craigs Investment Partners broker Peter McIntyre said some shareholders were able to off-load shares which, depending on whether the receivers can recover enough money to pay out the shareholders, could be worthless.
