St Kevins College principal Brent Russell has been appointed principal of Dunstan High School in Alexandra.
Mr Russell (52) will take up the role at the start of term 1 next year.
"Central Otago is a lovely area of the country and I've lived there twice before, teaching at Wanaka Area School from 1981-1985 and as principal at Roxburgh Area School from 1989 to 1992," he said.
Mr Russell has been principal at St Kevins for eight years and was at the helm of Verdon College in Invercargill before that.
He replaces Dave Smyth, who has spent 33 years teaching at the school, the past 10 as principal.
