Whoever is responsible for a spate of suspicious fires in Kurow needs to be caught before the consequences are "absolutely disastrous", Kurow fire chief John Sturgeon says.
It is understood a petrol bomb was thrown at a house last Tuesday but failed to ignite, and four vehicles were set alight and seriously damaged between Wednesday and Friday.
Police believe the fires are linked.
Detective Sergeant Mike Ryder said yesterday there were no further arson attacks over the weekend.
Some information had been received from the public but no arrests had yet been made.
When contacted, Mr Sturgeon said the offender, or offenders, needed to be caught, "the sooner the better".
"If it continues, who knows what lengths it will reach?
"For that reason alone, they've got to be stopped, because someone's going to get hurt and some valuable property is going to be destroyed or damaged," he said.
A lot of people were nervous because they did not understand where it was coming from.
"I think these guys are only going to be targeting certain people, but the older generation don't understand that," he said.
Another Kurow resident said it was not just elderly residents in the town who were feeling "a little bit uncomfortable".
However, it was not as bad as last week when the arsons were occurring, she said.
