Police have released the name of the Dunedin man who died in a tramping accident in Mt Aspiring National Park yesterday.
He is Karl Walter Quass, aged 30, professional writer from Dunedin.
Mr Quass was originally from Canberra and had been in New Zealand since 2006. He was tramping with his partner who was with him when he died.
His parents in Aldelaide have been advised and will be making arrangements for their son to be repatriated back to Australia as soon as possible, police said.
