It is not often five generations of a family come together, but one Dunedin family has done so twice.

In 1981, Sonya Hooper was photographed at 2 weeks old with her great-great-grand-mother, Molly Padget, then 104.

The photograph was taken to show the five generations of the one family.

Now, 26 years later, Mrs Hooper has been able to introduce her son, Damien, to his own great-great-grandmother and the family has again proved they can have five generations together at one time.

The oldest member of the family, Eileen Strong, (96) lives in South Dunedin and is visited regularly by members of each generation of her family.

She said she was not sure of the family's secret to longevity but she kept fit by regular dancing sessions at the RSA.
