Leckie (77) and daughter Fiona Gwilliam (51) both won medals in Sydney in a international event that had 28,000 competitors competing in 28 different sports.
There were 17 competitors in the over-75 golf and Leckie won the gold medal ahead of an Australian player and a Canadian.
"The grin hasn't left my face since I won last Friday," Leckie said.
"I have won two gold and six silver medals at New Zealand Masters Games, but this was special."
Leckie played 18 rounds of golf in the three qualifying rounds at Monash, New South Wales Club (venue for the Australian Open), and Ryde-Parramatta in qualifying rounds.
The final was played on a links course at Long Reef.
Leckie, the former owner-manager of Milton Transport, has played golf for 60 years and is a life member of the Toko Club.
He now lives in Mosgiel and plays at Taieri.
He is involved with Eagles Golf.
In his youth he was a keen skier and a member of the Otago Ski Club at Coronet Peak until an accident on the mountain injured his foot.
Gwilliam, who was competing in her fourth World Masters Games, regained the silver medal she won with the Perth Breakers over-45 women's softball team at Edmonton in 2005.
Ken Thompson (Queenstown) won a bronze medal in the aged 65 to 74 golf.
The next World Masters Games will be held in Turin, Italy, in 2013.
