Buildings worth a total of about $1 million were officially opened by two North Otago schools yesterday.
Weston School opened its $400,000 administration block, while Papakaio School opened its $600,000 multi-purpose block and redeveloped administration area.
Both buildings were funded from the Ministry of Education's special property grants fund, although Papakaio raised an extra $200,000 in the community and from the school's property management budget.
The 188sq m administration block at Weston houses the office-reception area, sick bay and first-aid room, a meeting room for the board of trustees and interviews, storage rooms, shower and disabled toilet and offices for the principal and executive officer.
Papakaio's 200sq m building is multipurpose, housing the library, a computer suite and teacher rooms.
It will also be used for school assemblies.
