Two TV appearances for Dunedin's mayor

Dunedin Mayor Peter Chin will feature in two television shows - as himself in one, and as an auditioning wedding singer in another.

Television New Zealand's Asia Downunder programme is following the mayor as he attends council meetings and other appointments.

Director Carolyn Sylvester said the episode, A Tale of Two Mayors, would be about Mr Chin and Gisborne Mayor Meng Foon.

"We're looking at two Asian mayors, their different styles and different approaches, and how their communities have shaped who they are as people and mayors."

Asia Downunder screens on Sundays at 11.30am.

The show featuring Mr Chin would run later this year.

Mr Chin will also appear in a programme with comedy duo the Laughing Samoans, Eteuati Ete and Tofiga Fepuleai, in which one character develops a crush on former Otago-based All Black Josh Kronfeld.
