An 18-year-old Alexandra woman was arrested and charged with disposing of dangerous litter after allegedly throwing a glass bottle from the window of a vehicle as it was driven past the Alexandra police station.
Sergeant Ian Kerrisk, of Alexandra, said the woman leaned out the window of the vehicle and threw the bottle while a police officer stood outside the station about 1am yesterday.
"We have absolutely no tolerance for that sort of thing, and any such offending will be dealt with through the courts," Sgt Kerrisk said.
The woman is to appear in the Alexandra District Court on Wednesday.
Sgt Kerrisk said officers also dealt with people interfering with road works and associated material on Tarbert and Limerick Sts during the weekend.
On Saturday, a 34-year-old Alexandra man was processed for driving with excess breath alcohol after being stopped on Enterprise St at 12.40pm.
The man was over the legal limit and police were awaiting the results of a blood test.
Sgt Kerrisk said people should be prepared to be stopped and breath-tested at any time of the day.
On Thursday, police conducted a traffic checkpoint near the Molyneux Estate subdivision on the outskirts of Alexandra between 5pm-7pm.
A male driver from Alexandra was processed for drink-driving and charged accordingly.
