Storey is the second import and final player added to the Auckland-based clubs roster for the 2009-10 Australian National Basketball League (ANBL) roster.
The 32-year-old 1.98m forward played 60 NBL matches for the Washington Wizards, Milwaukee Bucks and New Jersey Mets before spending last year in China where he averaged 23.3 points and 7.1 rebounds across a 44-match season for Liaoning.
Breakers coach Andre Lemanis believes Storey's record and the attention to detail in the club's scouting will pay dividends.
"We expect Awvee to help us defensively, on the boards and with overall toughness," Lemanis said when Storey's signing was announced today.
"We expect him to fit in with our team culture of doing what it takes to make the team better.
"He plays and practises hard and has a desire to get better; this is a great base from which he can grow with the team."
The second import's position was vacated by Dave Thomas, who withdrew from his contract with the club because of injury.
Storey is due to arrive in Auckland with his wife and one-year-old daughter at the end of this month, and will travel with the Breakers to the pre-season tournament in Darwin on September 3-6.
