Man jailed for aggravated burglary

A man who took part in an aggravated burglary of a Timaru home has been sent to prison for three years and seven months.

Arthur Harry Henry, 36, and an associate burgled the property in February this year.

Henry stopped one of the occupants ringing police by grabbing the phone off her, and while his associate was assaulting another occupant, he stole several household items. He then ran at the victim threateningly before leaving, the Timaru Herald reported.

In Timaru District Court yesterday for sentence on a charge of aggravated burglary and one of driving in breach of a limited licence, Judge Gary MacAskill said while Henry was a party to the offence, he had actively participated in perpetrating the violence.
