Petrol companies bumped up the price of petrol five cents a litre today.
Caltex, BP and Shell are now selling 91 octane petrol at 163.9 cents a litre. BP also increased the price of diesel by three cents, to 104.9 cents a litre.
The companies put the increase down to a rise in the international price of refined fuel which overrode the strength of the New Zealand dollar.
