Organiser Tracey Jinkinson said 385 hunters entered the competition, with some coming from as far away as the Bay of Plenty.
Ms Jinkinson believed it was the highest number of entries for any hunting competition in New Zealand, and there would have been more, but snow stopped some hunters from Millers Flat and Southland getting to Dunback.
Just over 100 boars were killed, which "absolutely smashed" last year's record of 70 boars.
This was the 11th year the competition had been held.
Contestants can hunt anywhere in the country, but must get their pigs to Dunback by 3pm for the weigh-in.
The heaviest boar weighed in, by Chris Steele, of Patearoa, was 85.5kg.
The average weight of boars killed was 56.3kg.
Weather conditions had been perfect for the competition, Ms Jinkinson said.
There were about 500 people, including hunters, supporters and family, at Dunback yesterday, she said.
