Oil companies have dropped the price of petrol and diesel today.
Shell, BP and Caltex cut the price of petrol by five cents, making 91-octane $1.58.9 a litre and high octane $1.64.9 a litre.
Mobil's 91-octane was $1.56.9 and high octane was $1.70.9.
Diesel was down by three cents to $1.04.9 a litre for all four companies.
The Automobile Association told today's Dominion Post that oil prices had dipped more than 7 percent and it was time for cheaper petrol.
BP managing director Peter Griffiths said the decrease was due to the falling international price of refined petrol and diesel.
