The winning ticket was bought at New World Masterton, and was worth a total of $5.5 million, with $5 million from Powerball First Division and $500,000 from Lotto First Division, chief executive Todd McLeay.
"This multi-million dollar bonus is sure to heat up the first month of winter for our lucky player," Mr McLeay said.
Also tonight, one other Lotto player, also from Masterton, won a $500,000 share of Lotto's First Division. That winning ticket was sold at Kuripuni Lotto and Post Shop.
Strike Four was also struck, with a prize of $150,622 won by a ticket bought from Martina Four Square & Lotto in Thames.
