Grant helps play group hold Jack Frost at bay

A $1500 grant from the Community Trust of Southland (CTOS) is helping to keep Jack Frost at bay at the Glenorchy Playgroup, with the installation of a new heat pump.

The 19 children are basking in warmth in their classroom in the rural township following the installation.

The grant was one of five for the region in the CTOS latest funding round.

Along with funding from the Community Trust of Southland and the Central Lakes Trust, the playgroup launched its own fundraising initiative by selling firewood at the Glenorchy Races earlier this year, adding $1050 to the required $4050 total.

Other Wakatipu organisations to receive funding from the Community Trust of Southland were: Head of the Lake Community Church Trust ($20,000), Michael Hill International Violin Competition ($5000), Queenstown Citizens Advice Bureau ($2171), Queenstown Life Trust ($7238).
