He calls it "al fresco dining at its worst" and a spate of thefts from the Green Acorn Cafe in Dunedin is starting to frustrate owner Ivan Brenssell.

The cafe has been at its location on Albany St, North Dunedin, since October.

For the previous 19 years, it was in a building on the corner of St David and Cumberland Sts, where it had "very few issues".

However, in the past few weeks, items have gone missing.

It began when people started taking fruit from a bowl.

Then two outside tables and a chair were taken and a short time later a menu board went missing.

However, the most frustrating incident was discovering some patrons had walked away with their cups.

Mr Brenssell had told Campus Watch but not the police.
