Last year's World Youth Day, an event that brought the Pope and many thousands of young people to Sydney had an echo in Mosgiel on Saturday.

Christ Fest brought together young people from the Dunedin Catholic Diocese, attracting about 100 people to the Holy Cross premises in Church Rd.

Youth and young adults ministry co-ordinator Vaughan Hook said the weekend gathering, which included bands, prayer and a Sunday Mass, was an idea that had followed the youth day.

"It's organised to gather youth from the diocese together to celebrate being members of the Catholic diocese."

As well as the entertainment and prayer, attendees heard from and were able to ask questions of the bishop of the diocese, the Rev Colin Campbell.
