Competition, education and entertainment are on the programme of the two-day 72nd Upper Clutha Agricutural and Pastoral Association Show which begins today.
Entries and exhibits this year were slightly down on last year, which was a Royal show, organisers said yesterday.
President Phill Hunt was one of the dozens of volunteers erecting tents, putting up signs and banners and preparing the Wanaka showgrounds.
One highlight of the programme is the New Zealand Golden Lamb (Glammies) award for the most tender and tasty sheep meat, judged by Olympic rowing champions Caroline and Georgina Evers-Swindell and former All Black Richard Loe, among others.
The grand parade is at 12.45pm tomorrow, followed by the Jack Russell race.
There are about 275 trade exhibits and food vendors.
