The new 89 million litre reservoir under construction at Coronet Peak, in the Sarah Sue area. Photo supplied.
The reservoir, in the Sarah Sue area, would improve water stocks to enable better use of the fully automated snowmaking system across the mountain, Mr McCrostie said.
It would also provide assurance of sufficient water capacity through the season.
Mr McCrostie said construction of the reservoir was well under way and expected to finish on April 9, when filling would begin.
The aim was to have the reservoir full by mid-May in time for Coronet's scheduled season opening on June 6.
