Wanaka police yesterday seized two firearms and a firearms licence, in two unrelated activities conducted on behalf of the Otago district firearms office in Dunedin.
Const Phil Vink said a .22 calibre rifle and a shotgun were taken from an unlicensed holder yesterday morning for safe keeping.
In the other case, the holder of a lapsed licence had failed to renew his licence, so it was revoked.
Const Vink said the two occasions should serve as a reminder to firearms owners to obtain or update the necessary licences.
