Keri, nee Burton, (26) teacher and Ethan Mathieson (24) electrician
Where and when did you meet?
We first met in Otautau. Keri had just moved down south from Central to her first teaching job. We moved in together as flatmates and the rest is history.
The proposal
Ethan had planned to propose in Queenstown but was called to work the weekend at the mines. So on the Monday night after we both had played squash for our local club, we were at home and Keri was refusing to believe Ethan had a ring out in the garage. It had been there all week.
When and where was the wedding?
The Venue in Wanaka. 26 February, 2016.
Why did you choose the venue?
We both love central and spend many days up there at our family holiday house. There wasn't anywhere else we would have chosen.
The dresses and suits
The bridesmaids dresses were chosen by Keri's dad...who doesn't have much of a dress sense. He was on holiday with Keri's mum and he happened to spot them. He tells everyone that he chose them. The boys were so easy to kit out, they are 'tradies' and farmers so something stylist but fun was a must. The brides dress was styled and altered by a local Otautau lady called Thelma. She made it just perfect.
The caterers
We were so lucky to have Maxine and Zoe from 63b. They made it so delicious and just so easy. We are a 'hunters and gatherers' kind of a family and they suited our menu to us!
Highlight of the day
Everything was phenomenal! It's hard to think of a highlight, but if we had to choose just one, it would have to be the dance floor. We love dancing and seeing everyone we love get up and dance to "Wagon wheel" was just spectacular!
Our photographer
We had a slight dilemma four days before our wedding with our original photographer. Erin at Acorn Photography with Holly as her side kick slipped in perfectly and captured some pretty awesome photos. The photos were unreal and we just love them.
