Father Christmas, a 5yr-old gelding, put on a burst at the top of the straight and could not be headed in the c2-c7 handicap trot.
The Phil Williamson-trained trotter was too good for the opposition and was a clear winner for his watching owners.
Every time he bags a winner, the syndicate members at the track wear a Santa hat to meet him when he returns to the winner's circle.
Syndicate member Neil Bennett, of Christchurch, said it was a tradition the group started and did not want to end.
"It started when he won his first race. Now we do it every time. Phil [Williamson] thinks it is a bit of a tradition and the guys don't mind,'' Bennett said.
"He was born on Christmas Day, so that is where the name comes from. It is a bit of a silly name but he is doing well for us.
"He has had some tough racing up at Addington against some good horses so we can bring him down here for a bit of a crack. We leave it all up to Phil, really.''
There were 20 shareholders in the Seafield trotting syndicate and at least half were on course last night to see their horse's eighth victory in his 33rd race.
● Some major alterations since his last run paid off for Micky Jay in the 3yr-old c0 pace last night.
The 4yr-old timed his run to perfection in the hands of Brad Williamson to notch his first win and it had been just a matter of time before he did, trainer Eion Latimer, of Oamaru, said.
"He had been doing a few things wrong so we made some six alterations to him since his last run,'' Latimer said.
"We put some new shoes on him and took out his ear plugs to get him excited. He's a good little horse ... we've just been marking time with him and working him out.
"It's just taken him a while to get him sorted out. Get his legs organised properly and get him to show his true worth.''
Latimer was not sure what would be up next for Micky Jay, but it could be a visit back to Forbury Park in a couple of weeks.
● Nui Lee showed her potential with a quality effort in a c1 mobile pace last night.
The Graeme Anderson-trained 4yr-old won by nine lengths in her last start at Wingatui and showed she had an equal liking for Forbury Park last night.
She led from about halfway and put in a burst about 600m out, which was too much for most of the field, then hung on to win.
