Nick Borren (Otago) and Inia Logan (Wakatipu Junior) will represent Otago in the New Zealand foursomes championship and the Grant Clements Memorial trophy event in Mt Maunganui on February 12-14 next year.
Selection convener Greg Johnson named the pair yesterday hoping the duo will continue the successful form shown by Otago teams this year.
Duncan Croudis (Otago) was not considered, as he intends to join the professional ranks, while Otago No3 Brent McEwan (St Clair), a regular attendee at the Grant Clements event, has retired from representative golf.
Chris Snow (St Clair), who played at No5 position in the Toro tournament in Invercargill three weeks ago, was married yesterday and was unavailable to be considered for the event.
Logan, the reserve for the Toro event, was rated at No4 before he became unavailable for the South Island teams event and then ended up as team reserve (No6) for the Toro tournament.
Logan (17) was chosen ahead of Fraser MacLachlan, who competed at No4 when Otago finished as runner-up in the national event.
●Otago No1 Duncan Croudis has dipped out at the first stage of qualifying for the Australasian tour.
He carded a three-over 75 yesterday and ended his three rounds on seven over.
That left him tied for 19th, which did not qualify him to go to the next stage of qualifying in Melbourne. He needed to finish in the top 13.
Croudis will now head to Thailand in the new year to try to get a card for the Asian tour.
