Grants confirmed

More than 80 groups and organisations from across Dunedin have received a cash injection from the Dunedin City Council in its latest funding round.

The council's grants subcommittee met earlier this week and yesterday confirmed 83 bodies would together receive $180,380 from a variety of funding streams.

The largest individual sum, in the form of a $6000 underwrite, went to Dunedin Civic Orchestra Inc, to support the Southern Sinfonia.

Other large grants included $4800 to the Dunedin Midwinter Celebrations Trust, to help pay for the next year's Dunedin Midwinter Carnival.

Three organisations each received $5000 - the Theomin Gallery; the Dunedin Medieval and Renaissance Society; and the Basil Hooper Project Group.

Other recipients ranged from the Methodist Mission and Rape Crisis Dunedin, to the Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust, the Dunedin Multi-Ethnic Council and the Acts of Kindness Charitable Trust.

Application forms for the next funding round would be available from late January and applications would close on March 18.
