Xavier Napier (7), of Dunedin, arrives in Milton yesterday with his grandfather Boot Herriott (54), of Dunedin, as part of the White Ribbon riders convoy.
The White Ribbon riders are on a tour through New Zealand to promote an anti-domestic violence campaign.
The motorcycle convoy started in Nelson and has travelled down the West Coast and through Central Otago, gathering riders along the way.
It made its way through the Clutha district yesterday and Clutha Mayor Bryan Cadogan joined it at Owaka for a visit to The Catlins Area School.
The convoy also stopped at Tokomairiro High School, in Milton.
Mr Cadogan said more than 50% of police callouts in the Clutha district were related to domestic abuse and people needed to be more aware of that.
Rider Blair McKenzie chatted to pupils during the day.
He said it was a serious issue and New Zealand did not want to be remembered for having one of the highest rates of domestic violence in the world.
The riders will continue the ride up the east coast, visiting Oamaru today.
