Critics of Wanaka's sports and recreational facilities strategy should be able to have all the information they seek before Christmas, Queenstown Lakes District Council chief executive officer Duncan Field said yesterday.
Deputy mayor John S. Wilson asked Mr Field to update the Wanaka Community Board on the strategy at yesterday's board meeting.
Mr Field said people had been calling for the "big picture" on the future of the Wanaka Lakeview Holiday Park in Brownston St to help them make submissions on the preferred site for sports fields and a swimming pool.
That information was completed but there was "one more piece to do" - an overview of traffic planning and how traffic movements would impact on the various sites, Mr Field said.
He hoped all the documents would be released before Christmas, giving people something to read over the holidays.
It was important to release the documents as soon as possible but the council would also hold public workshops at the end of January or in early February, so people could talk to councillors and staff about the strategy, he said.
The strategy would become part of the long-term council community plan process.
Budgets would be set for the sports field, aquatic centre and camping ground projects at that time.
