''We all go to the Waitati one and we wanted to have something similar here,'' she said.
''People [are] thrilled with it. They have been waiting for something like this to happen. It's more a social thing, too.''
About 25 stalls were set up on a vacant lot in George St.
Owner Greg Adamson gave the market free use of the land.
