Tintinara will strip fitter for a new black-type mares' race at Addington next week after an easy win at Forbury Park last night.
The Steve Dolan-trained mare sped to the lead from barrier 1 and smashed her c2-c3 rivals with consummate ease, perhaps justifying the decision by Dolan and owners Terry and Adrienne Taylor, of Pleasant Point, to pay a late nomination fee for next Friday's race.
The listed Southern Mares Classic is open to 4yr-old and older mares but with a condition which prevents group 1 winners from lining up.''
We had to make a late payment for it and it was close to $3000 because she wasn't paid up for it but I thought she would be competitive,'' Dolan said.
''There are no group 1 horses allowed. No Venus Serenas or Willows or The Orange Agents, so it's an ideal race.
''Tintinara has now won six of her 16 starts and keeps her spot at the top of Dolan's pet list.
''I love her to bits - she's certainly one of my favourites in the stable,'' he said.
''Not just because she is good but because she's a lovely horse.''
Dolan will set the daughter of Falcon Seelster for a mares' mile at Methven in early December after next Friday's $40,000 feature.
Darryn Simpson is also after big stakes with Its Oscar, but it was Eltsunami carrying the stable colours to victory last night.
The Elsu 6yr-old had struggled to retain his gait throughout his races in recent starts.
Last night was no different with an early break, but driver Blair Orange managed to get the gelding back trotting and dived late through the middle to beat Denn Nee Nose Best in the c0-c1 trot.
''He's a ratbag - he can trot on his day but he beats himself,'' Simpson said.
Simpson, his partner Kylie Smail and Denis O'Connell own Its Oscar, who has won three from four at Alexandra Park after 30 months away from the races.
Simpson was so impressed with Its Oscar's work earlier this year that he opted to send the son of Sundon north to Tony Herlihy's Papakura establishment.
Good stake money and some handicapping advantages were the main reasons for the transfer, Simpson said.
''He was coming up that good that I decided to send him. There's no point dying wondering.
''He had been working that way around before he went up and I was confident he would go well that way.''
Simpson said Herlihy eased Its Oscar's work after his October 30 win to ensure he remained fresh and fit for the good racing at Alexandra Park in December.
''That's why he had a quiet week this week and we'll crank up this week and line up in a fortnight to get ready for Christmas.''
Simpson expects a 4yr-old full brother to Its Oscar to appear at the trials after Christmas.
• Lindsay Boulton's decision to renew his licence after 20 years paid off when Mysisters-astar took the passing lane in the 2200m c0 mobile pace.
His partner, Michelle McDonald, said her father Bernard (Jim) McDonald had been working up the Badlands Hanover mare before Boulton, of Oxford, gained his licence again.
Boulton's last winner was Cheeky Circle at Alexandra Park in April 1993.
