About 50 Port Chalmers residents are without power this morning after strong winds severed power lines.
Several properties in Constitution St were affected by the severed lines, Delta general manager of capability and risk Matt Ballard said.
It was unclear where the lines broke, but they probably detached from a power pole, Mr Ballard said.
The situation was being dealt with and power was expected to be restored in about one hour, he said.
Southern fire communications shift manager Andrew Norris said the incident was reported at about 9.45am.
Fire service staff arrived about five minutes later and were at the scene for about 25 minutes, he said.
