A petition comprising more than 2650 signatures was delivered to Justice and Courts Minister Amy Adams and Dunedin based List MP Michael Woodhouse yesterday afternoon.
Started just over two weeks ago, the petition urges Ms Adams to save Dunedin's historic courthouse by agreeing to undertake strengthening work.
Petition organiser Dunedin city councillor Aaron Hawkins said the petition raised awareness of the Government's negligence over the courthouse, drawing attention from the worldwide heritage community as well as local interest.
The online petition gained 2500 signatures, while the Otago Daily Times column The Wash collected 152 from people who do not have computers.
Mr Woodhouse could not be contacted yesterday, or earlier this week, for comment.
